Hi friends,

After my first surgery, I spent several months having radiation treatment five days a week, and my nurses were with me every single day. When they had to make a mask for my face, everyone thought I would need to be sedated, but my oncology nurse told them she believed I could stay still and she held my hand the entire time.

My nurses were always there for me. They took care of me through the nausea, pain, and dizziness — telling me stories, keeping my spirits up, and making me laugh. In one of the hardest times of my life, many of my happiest moments came from them.

Main Value Piece

Healthcare workers often don’t realize how much their smallest actions shape a patient’s entire experience. A patient might be scared, exhausted, or overwhelmed — and then one moment of kindness shifts everything.

Here’s what patients learn from you, often without you ever knowing:

You teach us what strength looks like.
Not the loud kind — the steady kind that shows up day after day, even when you’re tired.

You teach us that care isn’t just medical — it’s personal.
The way you speak, the way you touch a shoulder, the way you take an extra breath before walking out of the room… it matters.

Most patients don’t remember the treatment plans or the protocols — but we remember you.
